City Channel came on-air in October 2005, broadcasting 24 hours a day. Our channel is available to an audience of half a million Dubliners through the NTL digital platform . As the digital rollout in Dublin continues, that potential audience will grow substantially.
The channel is now also available in Waterford and Galway on cable, digital and MMDS, making our service available to an additional 120,000 people.
We are in the business of making television relevant to local audiences and commercial opportunities accessible to the 99% of traders who simply have not been able to afford to use this method of promotion up until now.
City Channel programming is a strong mix of lifestyle, entertainment and information with subjects that appeal to our local audiences. Short, focused programmes offering our viewers a “slice of life” from a wide range of city perspectives on subjects like – property, motoring, fashion, happenings, finance, leisure and current affairs. These are mixed with ongoing news and weather updates and a variety of texting and competition opportunities. City Channel is different to conventional broadcasters in that we reflect happenings in the cities we serve as a core element of our ongoing output.
Our Philosophy is to be relevant, informative and entertaining. 24- hour local television is new to Dublin, Galway and Waterford and City Channel is a quality alternative. We create original programming which serves the needs of our viewers.
