City Channel launches Media Show

Tuesday 21st of March 2006

The first ever Irish television programme focussed on media and media-related topics will air on City Channel this month. "The Media Show", a half-hour look at advertising, marketing, public-relations, television, radio, press and new media will air monthly on Dublin’s local television station – City Channel. The programme will also be broadcast on City Channels new local channels in Galway and Waterford.

Alex Gibson, already well known in advertising and media circles for his "Persuaders" show on Dublin City Anna Livia Radio (103.2FM) will present the show which is designed to review and inform.

Commenting on the launch of the programme Alex Gibson said “I’m delighted to be presenting The Media Show and to be able to offer a new perspective on the industry. There is so much happening on the advertising and media scene in Ireland and our programme will set out to reflect the myriad of happenings and developments”.

David Harvey, Chief Executive of City Channel, said “City Channel as a local television station is indicative of the rapidly changing nature of the media market in Ireland. We are delighted to be able to transmit The Media Show on our channel as our focus is on new and innovative niche programming. We have already led the way with Ota Polska for the Polish community and our gay show, Free to Express. The Media Show is another example of local television at its most focussed”.

The first programme will feature an in-depth interview with advertising industry veteran Jarlath Jennings of McConnells, a look at the development of Digital Television, the new Carlsberg commercial (and why the series is so successful) and “Previews” - the best new commercials on the airwaves this month.

The Media Show begins on City Channel on Monday 20th of March.
