City Channel To Launch Programming For Filipino Community
TV Patrol will begin on City Channel in September and will feature news and current affairs from the Philippines. In addition City Channel plans to introduce TV Patrol Extra in the coming weeks. TV Patrol Extra will give details of events in Ireland of interest to Filipinos and it’s hoped that the programme will become a source of news and events to this growing ethnic community.
Commenting on the introduction of TV Patrol John Ferris, the Philippines Honorary Consul to Ireland said “I am delighted City Channel has taken this innovative and worthwhile step. The programme will be a great source of news and information for Filipinos in Ireland as well as a good way for the community to keep up to date with all that’s happening of interest to them in this country. I welcome it and wish it every success”.
City Channel already caters for a number of minority and ethnic groupings through its wide range of locally focused programming. Oto Polska, presented by Izabela Chudzicka continues to prove popular with Polish audiences and has recently attracted Eircom Talktime as its main sponsor. African Eye with John Kamara is focused on Ireland’s west-African community and the channel is also noteworthy for its introduction of the first television programme for the gay community, Free to Express.
City Channel is available on NTL Digital Channel 107 in Dublin, Galway and Waterford.
