The station is the latest local television channel to be established by the City Channel Group which has existing television franchises in Dublin, Galway and Waterford. From commencement Channel South is available in over 140,000 homes across the Munster region, providing a wide range of regionally focused programmes including News, Sport and Entertainment. Key to the Channel South schedule is Local News, and bulletins including sports and weather will be transmitted on the hour from 4pm each afternoon. The station has also harnessed significant local talent including top radio presenter Neil Prenderville (Cork’s 96FM), who presents a weekly interview programme The channel also airs a nightly regional magazine show from a variety of locations across the province. South Tonight is presented by Cork based journalist and broadcaster Martina O’Donoghue. Sports fans are catered for with ongoing reports across the schedule and a dedicated preview programme on Fridays – Weekend Sport view presented by Mike McCarthy.
