Personalities | Johnny McCormackJohnny McCormack has a wealth of experience in both Broadcasting and Fine Dining. As far back as 1968 he co-wrote and performed a comedy sketch show on Radio Eireann entitled 'But Seriously Though' with amongst others, Frank Kelly, of Father Ted fame. In the early 1970's he assisted in the production of several plays and films shot in Ireland. He returned to radio in 1998, Writing, producing and hosting 'Whole Lotta Shakin', an hour long Rock'n'Roll show on Anna Livia FM. He also hosted the drivetime show for a period with Anna Livia. Since 1989 he has excelled as the raucous frontman of legendary Irish Band, 'Dave and the Bebops', recently retitled 'The Elderly Brothers'. In December 1971 he opened Captain America’s Cookhouse in Grafton Street, Dublin with Mark Kavanagh. He was Responsible for all areas of operations from 1971 to 1986. During this time he also opened Solomon Grundy's restaurant, Captain America's West and the entertainment complex at Phoenix Park Racecourse in 1983 comprising bars, restaurants, night club and on course catering. In 1986 he opened Chi Chi's Flagship Tex-Mex Restaurant in Leicester Square London. The restaurant sat 400, had 3 kitchens, 180 staff and 10 managers. He returned to Dublin in 1989, to manage Judge Roy Bean's Bar, Restaurant and Nite Club before opening his own restaurant, QV2, on St. Andrews street in 1991.
After 11 Succesful years he sold QV2 and moved to Cork where he resides to this day. At present he runs the South Coast Coffee Company and acts as a restaurant consultant to several venues in the South. |
